Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 14, 2026Last updated: October 14, 2026

Detoor ("Detoor", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, stored, and shared when you use the Detoor mobile application, website at www.detoor.app, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This policy is intended to explain our data practices in a transparent manner and to address applicable privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable. It should be read alongside any additional notices presented within the Services.

1. Information We Collect

The information we process depends on the features you use, the permissions you grant, and whether you create an account.

1.1 Account Information

When you create or use a Detoor account, we may process:

  • Email address.
  • User ID and authentication information.
  • Name, username, or profile information you choose to provide.
  • Optional profile photo.
  • Motorcycle information you choose to add.
  • App preferences and settings.
  • Subscription status, where applicable.

Authentication credentials are handled through our authentication provider. Detoor does not intentionally store your password in plain text.

1.2 Location Data

Location data is important to Detoor's route-planning, navigation, and ride-recording functionality.

Depending on the features you use and the permissions granted, Detoor may process:

  • GPS coordinates and approximate location.
  • Route start and destination locations.
  • Navigation progress and heading.
  • Speed and movement information, where available from the device.
  • Stops and locations associated with a planned or recorded ride.
  • Route and ride history that you choose to save.

Your device may provide location information to Detoor while you use location-dependent features. Location data may also be sent to relevant service providers to generate routes, search for places, or provide weather information.

Background location: Background GPS tracking is not currently implemented as a supported ride-recording feature. You should keep Detoor open and the screen on during a ride until background tracking is explicitly introduced and documented. This policy does not promise continuous background tracking.

You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access may prevent some features from working.

1.3 Ride and Route Data

When you plan, record, or save rides, Detoor may process:

  • Planned and saved routes.
  • Recorded ride tracks and ride history.
  • Ride start and end locations.
  • Distance and duration.
  • Average speed and top speed, where available.
  • Planned destinations and stops.
  • Route preferences and trip settings.
  • Multi-day trip plans, where supported.
  • Ferry or road information associated with a route.
  • Weather information associated with a planned or recorded ride.

Some information may remain stored locally on your device. Other information may be stored in your account when you save or synchronize it. The exact availability of synchronization depends on the feature and connection status.

1.4 Microphone and Voice Features

Detoor may request microphone access when a supported voice-related feature requires it.

If microphone functionality is enabled, audio input may be processed to support that feature. Detoor does not intentionally record or store ongoing private conversations.

Microphone access is subject to your device permissions. You can revoke the permission through your device settings. Features that require microphone access may stop working if permission is denied.

1.5 Device and Technical Information

Information processed by Detoor or its service providers may include technical details needed to operate and troubleshoot the Services, such as:

  • Device and operating system information.
  • App version.
  • Network and connection information.
  • Error reports and crash diagnostics, where enabled.
  • Technical identifiers used for authentication or service operation.
  • Performance information, where collected.

The precise information collected depends on the device, operating system, application configuration, and services enabled. We do not claim to collect every category listed above on every device.

1.6 Payments and Subscriptions

If Detoor offers paid subscriptions or other purchases, payment transactions may be handled by the relevant platform or payment provider, such as Apple App Store or Google Play.

We may receive information about subscription status and transaction entitlements needed to provide paid features. We do not intentionally store complete payment card details when payments are handled by those providers.

Only payment methods actually enabled in the released version of Detoor will apply.

1.7 Analytics and Diagnostics

We may use technical diagnostics to investigate crashes, identify errors, and improve reliability where those facilities are enabled.

This policy does not mean that Detoor necessarily operates a separate analytics or advertising-tracking service. Any analytics or diagnostic tools introduced in the future should be reflected in the relevant privacy disclosures.

2. How We Use Information

We may process information for the following purposes, where relevant to the features you use:

  • Create and maintain your account.
  • Plan routes and provide navigation.
  • Search for destinations and places.
  • Record and display rides.
  • Calculate ride statistics.
  • Save and synchronize routes and ride history.
  • Provide weather information and alerts.
  • Remember your preferences.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Maintain app security and prevent abuse.
  • Diagnose errors and improve reliability.
  • Manage subscriptions and access to paid features.
  • Meet legal obligations.

We aim to process only information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

3. Ride Sharing

If Detoor offers a ride-sharing feature and you choose to use it, information about a ride or your location may be shared with the people or recipients you select.

Before using a sharing feature, review the information shown by the app about what will be shared and who can access it.

Treat any shareable link as potentially accessible by anyone who obtains it unless the feature explicitly provides access restrictions. Stop sharing when you no longer want the information to be available.

Availability and behavior of ride-sharing features may change during beta testing.

4. Weather and Navigation Services

Detoor may use route and location information to provide weather forecasts, wind or temperature information, road guidance, and related navigation features.

The information may be processed by third-party providers to fulfil the relevant request. Weather forecasts and navigation information can be incomplete or inaccurate. Detoor should not be relied upon as a substitute for your own judgment, road signs, official warnings, or safe riding practices.

5. Third-Party Services

Detoor relies on third-party providers for certain functionality. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual arrangements with us.

5.1 Mapbox

Detoor uses Mapbox for map display, route generation, geocoding, and place-search functionality.

Depending on the request, Mapbox may receive coordinates, route information, search queries, or technical information necessary to provide its services.

Mapbox Privacy Policy: mapbox.com/legal/privacy

5.2 Supabase

Detoor uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, user accounts, and related backend functionality.

Information stored through Supabase may include account identifiers, saved routes, and ride information that you choose to save or synchronize.

Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

5.3 Open-Meteo

Detoor uses Open-Meteo for weather forecasting.

Weather requests may include coordinates or other location information needed to retrieve relevant forecasts.

Open-Meteo Privacy Policy: open-meteo.com/en/privacy

5.4 App Development and Hosting Providers

Detoor is developed using software development and hosting services. Such providers may process technical or project information as part of operating those services.

The use of a development platform does not, by itself, mean that the platform receives all personal data processed by the released app. Any additional provider that receives personal data in production should be reflected in our privacy disclosures as appropriate.

5.5 Payment Providers

If paid features are available, the applicable payment provider will process payment information under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Detoor does not sell personal data.

We may disclose or make information available:

  • To service providers that help us operate the Services.
  • When you choose to share a ride or other information.
  • When required by law or a valid legal process.
  • When reasonably necessary to protect the security of the Services or investigate abuse.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not intentionally provide precise ride history to advertisers for advertising purposes.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Information may be stored locally on your device or in backend systems, depending on the feature and whether you choose to save or synchronize it.

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to applicable legal obligations.

Retention depends on the type of information, how it is used, your account status, and technical requirements. For example:

  • Account information may be retained while your account remains active.
  • Saved routes and rides may remain until you delete them or request account deletion.
  • Temporary navigation information may be retained for the duration necessary to support the relevant session and recovery functionality.
  • Technical diagnostics may be retained for a limited period where collected.
  • Backup copies may persist temporarily after deletion.

We do not promise that all locally stored information will automatically synchronize or be recoverable. During beta testing, device storage limitations, connectivity problems, and software defects may affect data availability.

8. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by using an available in-app deletion facility or by contacting us at support@detoor.app.

Where applicable, requests may cover account information, saved rides, saved routes, profile information, and other personal data associated with your account.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

We will handle valid requests in accordance with applicable law. Some information may be retained where required by law or where a limited retention period is necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Backup copies may remain temporarily before being overwritten or deleted in accordance with applicable retention procedures.

Deleting the app from your device does not necessarily delete your account or information stored on our servers. Contact us if you need assistance with account deletion.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

These measures may include secure authentication, encrypted network communication, access controls, and database security mechanisms.

No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use a secure device, protect your account credentials, and report suspected security issues to us.

10. Children's Privacy

Detoor is not intended for children under 13, or the higher minimum age required by applicable law where relevant.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us unlawfully, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request a copy of certain information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority.

These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions.

To exercise your rights, contact support@detoor.app. We may request information necessary to verify your identity and process your request securely.

12. European Economic Area and GDPR

For individuals in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws, the legal basis for processing depends on the purpose and circumstances.

Where applicable, processing may be based on:

  • Contractual necessity: providing the Services you request.
  • Consent: where you have freely consented to a specific activity, such as a permission-dependent feature where consent is the appropriate legal basis.
  • Legitimate interests: operating, securing, and improving the Services, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: complying with applicable law.

You may withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis for processing. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

You may also lodge a complaint with your relevant supervisory authority. In Norway, this is the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

13. California Privacy Rights

Where the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies, California residents may have rights regarding access to, correction of, deletion of, and certain disclosures about personal information.

Detoor does not sell personal information. We do not state that we share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising unless such a practice is introduced and disclosed.

Requests may be submitted to support@detoor.app.

14. International Data Transfers

Detoor and its service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence.

Where applicable data protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will take appropriate steps, such as relying on an applicable adequacy decision or implementing appropriate contractual safeguards.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our Services, data practices, or legal obligations change.

We will update the "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice where required by law or where the changes warrant it.

The updated policy will be published at www.detoor.app. Where required, we will seek consent for new processing activities rather than relying solely on continued use of the Services.

16. Contact Information

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your personal information, or a privacy request, contact:

Detoor Support

17. App Permissions

Depending on the features enabled and your device, Detoor may request or use the following permissions:

  • Location: route planning, navigation, weather information, and ride recording.
  • Microphone: supported voice-related features, if enabled.
  • Notifications: relevant navigation or app notifications, where supported.
  • Photos or media: selecting a profile image or other user-provided content, where supported.
  • Network access: maps, place search, weather requests, authentication, and synchronization.

The permissions requested by the released app may differ by platform and version. Detoor does not currently support continuous background ride recording. We will update this policy if background tracking or additional permissions are introduced.

You can manage available permissions through your device settings. Denying a permission may limit the related functionality.

18. Beta Testing

During beta testing, Detoor may contain bugs, incomplete features, and experimental functionality. Features, data flows, and service providers may change as development continues.

At this stage:

  • Background ride tracking is not supported.
  • Reliable offline map navigation is not guaranteed.
  • Ride recording and synchronization may be affected by connectivity, device settings, or software defects.
  • Navigation and automatic arrival detection may not always be accurate.

Beta users should keep the app open and the screen on while recording rides, use their own judgment when navigating, and report data-loss or privacy concerns to support.

We will update this policy when the app's data practices materially change.

19. Premium Features

Detoor may offer paid features, including enhanced route planning, weather functionality, multi-day trips, ride sharing, or other touring features.

The availability of these features may change. Where a feature requires additional personal data processing, we will provide relevant information before or when that processing occurs, as required by law.
